Workshop of Agriculture, Nutrition and Climate Change in Beijing

From 7th to 9th June, the SAIN WG4 and Agro-Environmental Protection Institute,Ministry of Agriculture held an academic workshop “Agriculture, Nutrition and Climate Change” with the Food Climate Research Network sponsored World Society of Animal Protection.

In the workshop, the scientists from China and UK analyzed effect of the development? of livestock on climate change; compared the circular agriculture technology and policies to make the livestock sustainable, saving energy and reducing emission; point out the rational diet could help adapting the climate change; shared the information of the agricultural technology and policies related in the area; exchanged the ideas in the cooperation between China and UK; and discussed the needs and key points in the future cooperation.

The workshop also invited Ms. Zhang Su, the national coordinator from DFID, Prof. Tong Yanan, the Chinese secretary-general of SAIN and Prof. Lu Yuelai, the British secretary-general of SAIN. After the workshop, the scientists visited the demonstration site of circular agriculture guided by Agro-Environmental Protection Institution, MOA.
